Q: Does your price include tax and gratuity ?
A: Yes, sales tax is already included in the price and the gratuity is
left to the discretion of the customer.

Q:  Is it customary to tips for a catered event?
A:  Yes, it is customary to tips the staff in a catered event.

Q:  How much of a tip is customary for an event?
A:  Generally a 10% - 15% tip on the total bill is customary for a
catered event?

Q:  If I decide not to tip does this mean I will receive bad service?
A:  Absolutely not.  We are a family business, committed to providing
quality food and service.  As in a restaurant, the  final payment is
collected at the end of the event allows you to tip or not tip based on
the service you received.  

Q:   Do you require a minimum number of guests to cater an event?
A:  We do require a minimum count of 100 guests to sign a contract
to cater an event.

Q: Will you cater an event inside my home if I meet the minimum
required guest count?
A:  Due to our insurance restrictions, we do not cater events inside
private residents; however, if you have a tent or an outside building
we will cater the event at your residents.  

Q:  Is china and glassware extra? If I decide not to use china and
glassware is there a discount?
A:  China, glassware, silverware and centerpieces (not including the
candles) are included in the price.  If you decide not to use either of
them there will not be a discount in the price.  This is because there
is minimal cost to us to use these items and using disposable products
for your event will actually cost us more then real china, glassware or
silverware.  

Q: Is linen included?
A:  Cloth napkins and cloth skirtings for non-guest tables are
included at no extra charge. Disposable table covering is also
included; however, linen tablecloths are not included and strongly
encouraged to be provided by you or the hall.  We do rent table
cloths at a extra cost; however, we will remove and take them with
us when we leave.

Q: How many different colors of napkins can I choose from?

Q: Do you charge for children?
A: The price is based on each guest's place setting that you would
like us to set up. If the child is old enough to occupy a seat, then you
should include the child in your guests count.

Q: Will you cut and serve cake?
A: Yes, we will cut the cake for you; however, we do not serve cake.
We would place the dished cake on the cake table, then  the guests
can help themselves at their convenience or you can have a
host/hostess serve the cake.

Q: Do you do sit-down events?
A: No, we do not do sit-down dinners.  Most locations are not
designed or equipped to handle sit down dinners so we strongly
encourage you to have your sit down reception at a facility that is
equipped and trained to do so.

Q: Will you serve the head table only?
A:  We will serve the head table only at an additional charge of
$150.00 plus $2.50 per person.  This charge covers the additional
staff and china needed to serve the head table.    

Q: Can I have a taste test?
A: Yes, you are encouraged to have a taste test. Taste tests are
scheduled at a actual event (prior to guests arriving) so you can see
how we set up the dining room, and test the food as it would be
during your event. To check on availability of your date and schedule

Q:  What time are the decorations removed?
A:  The decorations are removed about 2 hours after dinner,
beginning with the china, glassware and silverware.  After that is
collected (about 3 hours after dinner) the centerpieces and skirtings
are removed.  

Q:  What time do you arrive for the event?
A:  If we are allowed to, we like to start setting the dining room the
day prior to the event.  The day of the event we would generally
arrive at 10:00 AM and stay at the hall all day setting the dining room
and preparing the dinner at the location using our mobile kitchen.  

Q:  If I give you a recipe can you prepare it for my event?
A:  Yes, since all our meals is prepared from raw fresh ingredients
we can prepare your menu selections to accommodate your special
requests.  

Q:  How far will you travel for an event?
A:  Since all our meals are prepared on location on our mobile kitchen,
we are able to travel to any location in Central or Lower Michigan.

Q:  Is there additional fee for wait staff?
A: No,  there is no additional charge for wait staff.

Q:  Do you prepare extra food above the count given?
A:  We prepare enough food for the guest count given; however, we
do bring and will prepare extra food in our mobile kitchen in the
event unexpected guests do show up (at an additional charge).

Q:  Am I allowed to take the leftover food home?
A: Any food that is left on the buffet line is at your own disposal.  If
you chose to keep it, you will need to provide containers to put it in
and dish it yourself from the buffet line. All unserved food in the
hall's kitchen or our mobile kitchen is considered the property of
Ottawa Street Catering.
